Q&A

Q. Can I come to "New York Spring Forward in Style" even if I don't have a blog?

A. Yes, indeed! You just need to come!

Q. Can I come even if I don't have any style?

A. Yes, Indeed! All the more reason to attend.

Q. Can I come if I didn't RSVP?

A. Hell, yes! We just can't promise you a goody bag (Shame!)

Q. Does it cost anything to attend?

A. Only your dignity.

Q. Why should I come?

A. How many reasons do you want, fool?

Q. What's the whole point?

A. When we figure it out, you'll be the first to know.

Q. What should I wear?

A. Something that makes the gals jealous, the guys wimper and the kids blush.

Q. Will I regret it in the morning?

A. Do you drink tequila?

TOTALLY YUMMY CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES

INGREDIENTS:

1 cup butter flavored shortening

3/4 cup white sugar

3/4 cup brown sugar

2 eggs

2 teaspoons Mexican vanilla extract

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

2 cups milk chocolate chips


DIRECTIONS:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets. 

In a large bowl, cream together the butter flavored shortening, brown sugar and white sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well with each addition, then stir in the vanilla .Combine the flour, baking soda and salt; gradually stir into the creamed mixture. Finally, fold in the chocolate chips. Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto the prepared cookie sheets. 

Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, until light brown. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.

Don't forget the ice cream!

Baked Mac and Cheese

Macaroni and Cheese (YUM)

24 ounces macaroni

1/2 cup butter

1/2 cup flour

4 cups milk

16 ounces Velveeta cheese

1 pinch white or black pepper

1 pinch salt

1-2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1.     Preheat oven to 350F degrees.

2.     Prepare macaroni according to package directions.

3.     Melt butter in a large pan.

4.     Whisk flour into melted butter to create a light roux (paste).

5.     Slowly whisk milk into the roux, whisking constantly to avoid lumps.

6.     Allow milk and roux to heat for about one minute, then begin adding the Velveeta.

7.     Continue to gently whisk the mixture until all Velveeta has melted, then add a pinch of white or black pepper.

8.     After macaroni has cooked, drain the water from the pot and mix in the cheese sauce.

9.     Once the macaroni and sauce are mixed together, transfer to a 9 x 13 baking dish.

10.Cook uncovered for 25-30 minutes or until bubbly.

11.Sprinkle 1-2 cups of shredded cheddar across the top and bake for 5 more minutes, or until cheddar is thoroughly melted.

Remove from oven and allow to cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.
