2006 just happened. It's cold outside. New year's resolutions were meant to be broken, or else we couldn’t make them again the following year. So, here's my suggestion - hot fat in a cup.
Please join me THIS Sunday (January 8) evening, from 6 -11 pm, for hot drinks. Lucky for you, I will only be making drinks and not food, and on the menu:
Please be prepared with a toast that involves at least two of the following phrases: Roger Toussaint, evil-doer, Lindsay Lohan, borborygmus, naked.
Merry Christmas + Happy Hanukkah, People! Now get started on the Egg Nog and Deck the Halls!
What did you get for the holidays? Post in my comments.

Happy Birthday, Jaine!
Your horoscope: They might not be visions of sugarplums, but they're definitely visions, and they're definitely dancing through your head. Whether they're palm trees, swimming pools or Broadway shows, get busy making the arrangements. If you don't, you'll just be cranky and irritable -- and once you do, you'll be so darned pleasant to be around, your coworkers may try to talk you out of going at all. Oh, and don't let them do it.
I wish for you:
Frosting + Champagne
A Birthday Kiss (from someone cute!)
A Beautifully Wrapped Package
An Exciting + Marvelous Occurrence!
This weekend, my little brother (seen here in full penguin gear)
Got HITCHED to a totally hot babe
GO Chris!
I was on the scene to make sure nothing went awry
Despite the fact that I wasn't In Charge, the event was a huge success. Here are some highlights:
Rehearsal dinner
(speeches)
(the proud parents)
(food)

(mucho pictures; here me with my new sisters-in-law; I'm claiming Michelle too, even though technically I probably don't get to. so sue me.)
(humiliation)
The Big Day
(preparation)
(flowers)
(the obligatory bridesmaid's signing of the bride's shoes)
(ceremony)
(then we partied)
(there was a lot of kissing and i said "get a room you two!")
(more speeches)
(dancing)
(debauchery. don't knock it till you've tried it)
(cookies)
(try as I may, I still haven't found a damn thing wrong with Danielle)
As you know, Henry Hopmann's First Birthday Party was yesterday. I am required to attend many high-end social functions for work, and in my professional opinion, this party was a Smashing Success.
Lear from my experience. Here are the Key Ingredients for a successful First Birthday party:
Cupcakes and booze.
Presents. This one from Aunt Angie. (To die for)
The obligatory Embarrassing of the Birthday Boy (by taking lots of pictures as he eats and singing to him.)
Other kids. You know, so the Birthday Boy thinks the party is really for him.
Places for guests to relax. First Birthday Partying ain't easy.
Entertainment. Here, the Aunt, the Freeloading Friend, the Mom.
Activities. Like push-ups and dancing.
Someone really good with kids to be in charge of Child Care:
I was literally losing sleep over What to Wear to Henry's birthday party tomorrow, when it dawned on me: Seek counsel from Emily Richards of What to Wear This Very Second.
Brilliant.
Check out today's post "To a birthday party" for her illustrated answer to my wardrobe dilemma.
She is a genius. If only she could do this for me on a daily basis.
And P.S. - How did she know I am planning to wear my hair straight tomorrow? A talented illustrator AND telepathic?
Today:
Henry Hopmann...
...turns ONE! Go Henry!
(In Henry's honor I am going to drink a pitcher of sangria and eat 10 cupcakes!)
This weekend, my colleagues and I attended the nuptials of Kelly + Tom.
This is where we stayed:
Before the ceremony, we decided to get our drink on. You know, just in case:
Here's the bride. What a beauty!
Here is Kelly and Tom leaving the ceremony. Their dog Percy was in the wedding. Emma will DEFINITELY be in my wedding:
Here's me working on improving my cheekbbone structure:
Here is my dinner before...
...and my dinner after:
My dessert before:
...and my dessert after:
(I actually regret not finishing it, BUT I had to save room for dessert number 2)
Before...
...and after...
Wedding calories totally don't count. DUH!
Every time Anna and I finished a glass of wine, we did this until they came around and gave us more:
After the wedding we came back and had an exorcism...or something:
...and paid homage to the full moon:
In the morning we decided to burn some calories on the row boat. Mahnaz rowed and I watched. Mahnaz looked like she was working really hard, so I feel like I burned a lot of calories.
Joy is getting hitched!
Happy Birthday Jackie!
Happy Birthday LaRae!!
